Left Hand vs Right Hand Retrieve

We get this question all the time and figured it was about time we sat down and wrote a little post on it to help you decide the correct handing of your reel!  The "handing" of the retrieve refers to the hand that you will be reeling your monster brown trout in with.  The opposite hand is the one that will be holding the rod and doing all the casting.

If you are a right handed individual, generally, you will be holding the rod with your right hand, resulting in a left hand retrieve reel and vice versa.

Note: All reels we sell are able to be switched between L Hand and R Hand retrieve with a few simple steps.

Left Hand Retrieve

Left Hand Retrieve

A Left Hand Retrieve will place the handle of the reel on the left side of the rod for your left hand to reel up the line.

Right Hand Retrieve

Right Hand Retrieve will place the handle of the reel on the right side of the rod for your right hand to reel up the line.
