The Gallatin River Winter Fly Box is hand-curated specifically for the conditions, hatches, and trout behavior you'll encounter on the Gallatin from December through March. The Gallatin fishes year-round and winter rewards the angler willing to brave the cold. Midges are the primary food source and fish are stacked in the slower, deeper runs.

This box is built around the Gallatin's winter hatch calendar — midges almost exclusively. Every fly was chosen with tight-line nymphing and midge dry fly fishing on warm afternoons in mind, giving you exactly what you need to match what the fish are eating at this time of year.

What's in the box:

36 flies total — 18 unique patterns, 2 of each — covering midge larvae, midge pupae, zebra midges, and small soft hackles. No filler. No patterns that don't belong on this river in this season.

Pro tip from the water: Fish mid-day when temps peak. Look for slow, deep water — trout aren't moving far to eat in winter.
