Gibbon River - Spring Fly Box
Fish the Gibbon like you know it — because now you do.
The Gibbon River Spring Fly Box is hand-curated specifically for the conditions, hatches, and trout behavior you'll encounter on the Gibbon from May through June. The Gibbon is one of the first park rivers to fish well after opener — its thermal influence near Norris warms sections of the river ahead of most other park waters, and the mix of meadow and canyon holds fish year-round.
This box is built around the Gibbon's spring hatch calendar — midges, BWOs, and early Caddis on a river that few anglers target compared to the Madison or Lamar. Every fly was chosen with fishing the slower meadow sections with small patterns in mind, giving you exactly what you need to match what the fish are eating at this time of year.
What's in the box:
36 flies total — 18 unique patterns, 2 of each — covering Zebra Midges, BWO dries, Caddis patterns, Hare's Ear nymphs, and Soft Hackle wets. No filler. No patterns that don't belong on this river in this season.
Pro tip from the water: Try the meadow section above Gibbon Falls in early spring — it's less pressured than the more famous park rivers and the fish haven't seen many flies by the time the season opens.
Whether you're making your first trip to the Gibbon or you fish it every season, this box gives you a proven starting lineup so you can spend more time fishing and less time digging through bins at the fly shop.
Includes a quality waterproof fly box. All flies are hand-tied to Bozeman FlyWorks standards — the same quality we'd put on our own lines.
