Lamar River - Spring Fly Box
Fish the Lamar like you know it — because now you do.
The Lamar River Spring Fly Box is hand-curated specifically for the conditions, hatches, and trout behavior you'll encounter on the Lamar from late May through June. The Lamar opens with the rest of the park but often runs high and cold through June. When it clears — usually by early July — the fishing is worth the wait. Spring means nymphing the side channels and targeting the brief BWO windows that open between snowmelt pulses.
This box is built around the Lamar's spring hatch calendar — Skwala stoneflies, BWOs, and stonefly nymphs through high, cold water. Every fly was chosen with nymphing the inside bends and edges where fish hold during runoff in mind, giving you exactly what you need to match what the fish are eating at this time of year.
What's in the box:
36 flies total — 18 unique patterns, 2 of each — covering stonefly nymphs, Skwala dries, BWO patterns, Hare's Ear nymphs, and Woolly Bugger streamers. No filler. No patterns that don't belong on this river in this season.
Pro tip from the water: Don't fight the runoff. Fish the side channels, the inside bends, and the slower eddies where the current breaks. Cutthroat stack in these spots during high water and can be extremely willing.
Whether you're making your first trip to the Lamar or you fish it every season, this box gives you a proven starting lineup so you can spend more time fishing and less time digging through bins at the fly shop.
Includes a quality waterproof fly box. All flies are hand-tied to Bozeman FlyWorks standards — the same quality we'd put on our own lines.
