The Lamar River Summer Fly Box is hand-curated specifically for the conditions, hatches, and trout behavior you'll encounter on the Lamar from July through August. July on the Lamar is everything you hoped fly fishing in Yellowstone would be. Cutthroat are rising everywhere, bison are wading across the river, and wolves are occasionally visible on the ridge above the valley. This is the full Yellowstone experience.

This box is built around the Lamar's summer hatch calendar — PMDs, Gray and Green Drakes, Caddis, and hoppers. Every fly was chosen with fishing the foam lines during Drake hatches and slapping hoppers against undercut banks through August in mind, giving you exactly what you need to match what the fish are eating at this time of year.

What's in the box:

36 flies total — 18 unique patterns, 2 of each — covering PMD dries, Gray and Green Drake patterns, Elk Hair Caddis, hopper patterns, beetle patterns, and ant patterns. No filler. No patterns that don't belong on this river in this season.

Pro tip from the water: On Gray and Green Drake days — heavy cloud cover is ideal — the Lamar's biggest Cutthroat come out looking for the large flies. Size 10 and 12 Drake imitations in a foam line will produce fish you won't believe.
