The Ruby River Winter Fly Box is hand-curated specifically for the conditions, hatches, and trout behavior you'll encounter on the Ruby from December through March. The Ruby sees light fishing pressure in winter, making it a peaceful option for anglers willing to bundle up. Midges and small nymphs produce in the slower, deeper sections.

This box is built around the Ruby's winter hatch calendar — midges. Every fly was chosen with nymphing slow runs and deeper pools in mind, giving you exactly what you need to match what the fish are eating at this time of year.

What's in the box:

36 flies total — 18 unique patterns, 2 of each — covering midge larvae, zebra midges, scuds, and small soft hackles. No filler. No patterns that don't belong on this river in this season.

Pro tip from the water: Find the warmest part of the day and focus on the deepest, slowest water. Ruby trout in winter are concentrated and catchable if you put the fly where they are.
