The Smith River Summer Fly Box is hand-curated specifically for the conditions, hatches, and trout behavior you'll encounter on the Smith from June through August. Summer is the peak season for the Smith. Warm afternoons, caddis and hopper hatches, and trophy brown trout willing to eat dry flies in the canyon pools make this a once-in-a-season experience.

This box is built around the Smith's summer hatch calendar — caddis, PMDs, and grasshoppers. Every fly was chosen with dry fly fishing from the boat and on foot in the pools in mind, giving you exactly what you need to match what the fish are eating at this time of year.

What's in the box:

36 flies total — 18 unique patterns, 2 of each — covering elk hair caddis, PMD dries, large hoppers, and attractor nymphs. No filler. No patterns that don't belong on this river in this season.

Pro tip from the water: Fish the canyon pools carefully — they hold large fish. Camp, take your time, and fish evenings when the caddis come off and the big browns move shallow.
